What happened to Prosperity final expense

Prosperity Life sold its S.USA final expense and term business and left the market. iA Financial Group bought two in-force blocks of S.USA final expense and term policies, more than 115,000 policies, completing the deal on August 7, 2024. iA owns American-Amicable.

Since November 11, 2024, American-Amicable Life Insurance Company of Texas has administered S.USA’s in-force final expense policies. Named products include New Vista, Vista Premier, Family Freedom Term and PrimeTerm to 100.

Prosperity’s current agent site lists universal life and annuities, not final expense. We could not find any current final expense product from Prosperity for new applicants. If you are shopping today, Prosperity is not an option; see our final expense company comparison instead.

If you already own a New Vista policy

Your policy stays in force on its original terms as long as premiums are paid. A change in administrator does not change your benefit, premium or cash value. Contact American-Amicable for billing, beneficiary changes and claims.

The S.USA service contacts are 800-746-1670, www.susa-waco.com, and P.O. Box 2549, Waco, TX 76702. Keep your policy number handy when you call. Do not cancel an existing policy to buy a new one without comparing first, because a new policy may start a new waiting period.

Before you replace an older policy

Replacing a final expense policy you already own is rarely urgent. Your premium was set at your age when you applied, and any graded or modified period on a New Vista policy may already be over.

A new policy would price you at your current age and health. If your health has changed, you might only qualify for a graded plan, which restarts a two-year limited-benefit period. Ask any agent to show you the new plan’s early-year payout side by side with your current one.

Replacement can make sense in a few cases. Examples include needing more coverage than your current policy provides, or premiums you can no longer afford, where a smaller policy may help. Most states require the agent to give you a replacement notice, so read it carefully.

How New Vista plans worked

New Vista was simplified issue whole life with three plans. The Level plan paid the full benefit from day one. The Graded plan paid 30% of face in year one and 70% in year two, with accidental death paid in full.

The Modified plan paid 110% of the annual premium in year one and 231% in year two for non-accidental death, then full face. Premiums were level for life, and a terminal illness benefit was available at no premium cost outside California.

These terms apply to existing owners only. Learn how graded and modified benefits compare on our waiting periods guide.

Company background and rating

Prosperity Life Group is a marketing name for Prosperity Group Holdings and its insurers, including S.USA Life, Shenandoah Life, SBLI USA and National Western Life. Prosperity Life Insurance Group was founded in 2009. JAB Insurance bought the group from Elliott Management in September 2025.

On November 5, 2025, AM Best affirmed an A- (Excellent) financial strength rating for the group’s insurers, including S.USA Life, with a stable outlook. That is lower than the A or A+ ratings of most carriers on our carrier pages.

Before that sale, the group had added National Western Life in July 2024. Shenandoah Life dates from 1916 and joined Prosperity in 2012; SBLI USA joined in 2014.

Where former Prosperity buyers can look now

Most Prosperity final expense was sold through independent agents, so those agents now place clients elsewhere. Since iA acquired the block, American-Amicable is a natural comparison, with day-one, graded and return-of-premium plans.

Other carriers with day-one plans include Mutual of Omaha, Foresters and Americo. An independent agent can compare their health questions for you.
